In its nearly 70 years in business, Kentucky Fried Chicken has grown from a humble gas station restaurant to a massive multinational fast food giant with more than 25,000 locations in nearly 150 countries. A few menu items are synonymous with the chain worldwide: bone-in fried chicken, biscuits, and mashed potatoes and gravy, to name a few.
Other menu items are a bit more fleeting. Sometimes they're attempts to capitalize on a food fad, sometimes they are meant to challenge a competitor's offering.
