Stater Bros does that. They make you create an account, verify your # and email to use their digital deals. I was like, " forget it. Other stores such as Jons, Kohl, etc. don't force this B.S. on their customers so I rather shop there."

Why not just auto apply coupon to all members? I guess that would take away the incentive for people to download the app, which could potentially lower the ad revenue.
