Lorrie Finley says:

Matt – you didn't cover bulk items like nuts, dried fruits, grains, cereals like oatmeal. These are imo always a better price than the packaged alternatives. Maybe not as good as a Natural Foods Store or Co-op but for a shopper on a budget & limited means of travel, this is good.

Jack Hoffman says:

How many oars are in oarganic? does an oar taste good?

Jack Hoffman says:

A grocery store can’t hate anyone…it’s just a store…NOT a person.

panda5122 says:

#4 only works if you have a specialty store nearby. If I have to drive 30-60 minutes round trip to the ethnic store, all my grocery savings have been consumed by the time and gas uses to go there. Also #7 isn't a secret, it's called reading. It will say on the price label if you have to buy multiples to get the discount.

Pink Spoon says:

that mori tho

Danny Zuehlsdorf says:

#7 is true MOST of the time, but not always. Some stores' pricing systems are sophisticated enough to charge a higher price for a single item, so you may see 2/$4 or $2.49 single item price.

Lourdes Rivera says:

Awesome info. THANKS 🙏😁

Scifi Cowboy says:

Could you talk more about the bogo shopping warning

T G says:

It's not so much about restocking time for why fresh items like meat, fish, dairy, and produce are around the perimeter of the store, but because they're tied into the refrigeration system.

FRAG aLOT says:

Avoid organic products; it's largely a meaningless marketing especially if the product is sealed in a bag or box. For organic produce, those costs more then traditional produce, since organic has less work is put into them for them them grow.

ej22twagon says:

I prefer a couple of the generic cereals more than the big brands. Nothing to do with price just prefer them.

E B says:

I think you are too trusting saying they don't do this on purpose. They will never admit it, however I feel it is a corporate strategy, otherwise why is it so universal?

Stella Wicker says:

often….the generic brand is just a differently packaged name brand.

Stella Wicker says:

Some of those bags are overweight too. It's not that anybody is trying to rip you off. I worked in produce factories and trust me….they are not trying to put in less product. It's a super fast paced environment..so you get some a few ounces over, and sometimes a few ounces under.

les churchill says:

The tip about the frozen vegetables is spot on, and I have been using it for the last 13 months, because many times, the shipments of fresh vegetables don't always arrive on time when I am in the store for my once a week shopping trip. Thus, for many dishes, I head on over to the frozen food section.

Ms. L. Churchill

Bob Powers says:

Many people tend to think the frozen fruits and vegetables are inferior to the fresh produce. The truth is that the frozen produce is picked and flash frozen within hours where as the fresh produce may be picked on Monday and in the store on Tuesday and actually are less fresh than the frozen items. Plus frozen produce is picked at the peak of its ripeness where as fresh has to be picked before it's fully ripe thus making it more bland.

Mary Ellen Thompson says:

At Publix, when they offer products BOGO, and if all you want is one, you get it for half price.

Antia Trevino says:

HEB in Texas does have some really good product for less. (but not everything)

TheWholeShabang says:

Ok now I truly love this channel

Clinton Andrews says:

I always tell the stock person in the grocery aisle that I don't want the organic vegetables; could he point me to the inorganic vegetables? Inevitably they point the way. ;-D)

Carol Reid says:

A fishing scale is great for weighing anything, such as fruit and vegetables in a bag.
I agree about Walmart and other stores having shredded boxes of small appliances out there! Who handles these things anyhow? If I don't get a great discount, I don't touch or take a box that's been shredded, ALTHOUGH… Sometimes you can negotiate a discount from 25-75%, and test it before you leave the store. You can also return the item if it dies before the warranty is up, just like an undamaged item, unless it's sold "as is"!

As for Amazon Marketplace, I would strongly suggest NEVER buy garden seeds, bulbs, etc.. on Amazon.com! I have ordered only to discover I never get the product, that it's being shipped from a country that it's illegal to send plant matter from, and the USDA will seize and destroy it if it is shipped from one of these places. The USDA will send you the empty envelope, with stamps on it telling you the contents have been destroyed, and a nasty note about how it's illegal to import plant matter from certain countries.
Best to order seeds from well-known US seed companies, like Burpee's, and others. You'll get more seeds, better quality, they'll be legal AND you don't have to worry about some pathogen, insect hatching out, etc. from a distant country destroying agriculture in your area, nor people starving as a result!
Importing plant matter that isn't packaged, &/or isn't pre-approved by the USDA is a very serious matter, as a couple of bacteria, viruses, insect eggs can decimate entire orchards of trees, acres and acres or produce – fruits & vegetables! You may also be importing a plant that can be an invasive species! These can destroy entire forests, can make them not only impassible but can choke out trees… even pines, redwoods, cedars, etc. If that gets loose in an orchard, it can drive up costs, as it can reduce production of orchards, it can cause farmers to have to tear out their trees!
We had a big called a Lion aphid, hitchhike of something brought over illegally years ago, and they were killing off orchards or orange trees that took farmers 7-15 years to get producing, in only a couple of days!
Bugs can be incredibly destructive, so do NOT do it! It can also destroy organic farms, as sometimes these have to be sprayed with pesticides or herbicides because someone brought something over, so it doesn't spread to other farms, and destroy production.
Invasive species of plants you think you can control by growing it in a pot, are often spread when a seed or small branch is picked up by a bird, then dropped or expelled after eating elsewhere.
There's an invasive species of blackberry plants in the Pacific NW. Some people say, Why is that a problem, they are blackberries, are edible, etc.???
These vines have taken over growing on the riverbanks of some rather large rivers and streams. That's a problem because these vines choke out the local trees, not allowing them to have light or root space when they are young. They can also literally choke out the roots and branches of endogenous plants. And some people would still ask, why is that a problem, these are food-bearing plants!
If you need wood, it's a problem! If you want to walk through the woods, it's a problem! If you want to get to the water, it's a problem!
Some plants put out toxins for other plants within their roots, pollens, can change the pH of the soil, can cross with local species of plants rendering them inedible, some can be toxic to or even kill bees with some pollens.
In the case of these blackberries in the Pacific NW, the invasive species that people are still fighting back has VERY nasty thorns as well, so getting rid of them isn't so easy. There's been an effort to get rid of just this one species for over 30 years. $Millions have been spent trying to keep this plant species under control, yet it's VERY difficult to get rid of these plants. Burning them doesn't even always kill them, as they come back from very small runners and roots. 1 seed carried by a bird, the dropped or pooped out, can start another area of forest that it's being decimated by these blackberries!
Do NOT import plants that aren't approved by the USDA! If you aren't sure, assume the seeds are dangerous!!!
This may sound to some like this is overstated! Invasive plant species and bugs being introduced via shipping from other countries is VERY dangerous to species here! Some can even kill wildlife… birds, squirrels, rabbits, deer, antelope, bear, mice, rats, etc. Getting rid of rats may sound great, but if we don't have mice, we don't have food for bigger predators, such as bald eagles, California Condors, and other birds of prey. This also causes a problem for big cats, likeBobcats, mountain lions, etc.
When predators don't have their normal food sources, when they are hungry they will go th p other food sources, such as house cats, dogs, and even yourchildren, or perhaps even you!
When it goes up the food chain, it affects everyone! Some plants simply don't belong in certain places!
SO… When ordering from Amazon, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE – DO NOT BUY FOREIGN SEEDS FROM AMAZON.COM OR ANYWHERE EKSE FOR THAT MATTER!,
AMAZON.COM IS A MARKETPLACE WITH MANY SELLERS ALL OVER THE WORLD!
SEEDS SOLD ON AMAZON.COM ARE EITHER SHIPPED FROM A WAREHOUSE AND ARE NOT HANDLED PROPERLY, OR THEY ARE OFTEN SHIPPED FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY WITHOUT THE PROPER USDA SCREENING FOR AGRICULTURALLY BAD AFFECTS/DECIMATION OF OUR COUNTRY'S WILDLIFE AND CAN LEAD TO WILDLIFE BEING A PROBLEM, AND HARMING PLANTS, ANIMALS, PETS OR EVEN HUMANS.
SOME WILDLIFE ATTACKS ON SMALL CHILDREN AND EVEN ADULTS CAN BE TRACKED BACK TO A SOURCE OF A VIRUS, BACTERIA, BUGS/INSECTS IMPORTED WITH THE PLANT MATTER (SEEDS, PLANTS, ROOT CUTTINGS PLANT CUTTINGS, ETC.) CAN INFECT PEOPLE AND MAKE PEOPLE SICK, EVEN KILLING PEOPLE DIRECTLY, OR CAN GET PLANTS AND PEOPLE KILLED INDIRECTLY.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!
DO NOT ORDER SEEDS OR PLANTS FROM OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY!!!!!!
THERE ARE SOME GREAT SEED CATALOGS ONLINE, AND YOU CAN BUY ALMOST ANY PLANTS YOU WANT TO GROW! CHECK ONLINE! USE GOOGLE!
(I'LL LEAVE A STARTER LIST BELOW THIS!)
AMAZON, AND SOME OTHER WEBSITES WHERE THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE SELLING, OFTEN HAVE MANY SEED DEALERS WHO DON'T ALWAYS TELL YOU WHERE THEY ARE SHIPPING FROM!
IF YOU ASK THEM, SOME WILL TELL YOU THAT THEY ARE USDA APPROVED, WHEN THEY REALLY ARE NOT! I'VE SEEN THAT A FEW TIMES!
IT'S IMPERRATIVE TO ORDER FROM A BUSINESS LOCATED IN THE USA!!!
Here are some of the seed/plan companies that I have ordered from, and who have a good track record! Buying from a local nursery or a friend, or better yet, perhaps the absolute BEST and free, which is the BEST!!! Is having a "SEED SWAP" or "CUTTINGS SWAP" locally in your community, several times a year!
FREE IS BEST!!! Quality and hardening off, stronger plants, straight pollination so your fruits and vegetables you grow are "as you expected"!
Happy Gardening!
BTW, 99c Only & Dollar Tree have some great gardening stuff too! Noodles also make great handles with some cute duct tape, which they also have… especially in a pinch when you need it "Right Now!" , and the only other option is around $30-50, or more!
Pool noodles and and duct 5ape have many. many uses in an emergency!
When it freezes hard and you need some insulation for your pipes so they don't burst , this combination of warm water, pool noodles and duct tape can save your home water pipes and a lot of significant amounts of damage! They're also fun to cut lengthwise and weave or macrame to make a really kewl lounger and other neat, fun, kewl stuff for summer. Or make a tight weave with small strips and weave lengthwise to create a snow sled for winter!

You are just so fun to watch. I’m not kidding. You seem like the best guy to have as a friend or even to just know.

That said, I’d like to give a little insight into a “generic brand” called Our Family Foods Brand. Its only available mostly in the midwest, from New York to as far West as Wyoming/Colorado and as far South as Georgia so far.
So not available in every state yet.
I have found their products to be great quality, even the cereal, with very few exceptions.
I’m not kidding when I say my family actually prefers some Our Family products over some name brands, such as Mac and Cheese, hot dogs, breakfast sausages, lunch meat, cheeses, taco sauce and taco meat seasoning, chili seasoning, canned tomatoes/juice, canned condensed soups, tuna, beef stew, and boxed pasta dinners you add ground beef to, and peanut butter and jelly, and their bagged frozen fruits and veggies are always nice, as is their ice cream and other frozen novelties.
Most of their cereal is good quality too, but not all of them I will admit. Their coffee is fantastic-and they have compostable k-cup brewer style pods now.
The dairy items are sourced from your local area, so you’re more than likely buying the same milk or cheese from the same dairy farms that has the name brand on them in your local store, you just don’t pay a few dollars more for the fancy packaging.
So I guess what I’m trying to say is Our Family Brand is worth checking out even if you don’t necessarily need to save a few dollars, because you may find you like their product better than a name brand.

Anyway, man, I sincerely thank you for your videos, and your information, I have found a lot of good info and advice I have actually used, like when you do videos on Dollar Tree, and you just keep coming back with more!
I appreciate you, I hope to see and learn a lot more from you. I wish you all the best.

If anyone is interested if Our Family Foods products are sold in your state and at what stores (not all grocery stores carry them), here is their website.

I'm in a very rural area of Ga..half an hour from any grocery store. Recently the somewhat ok grocery store – Bi-Lo – the only not walmarx shopping in town became a Food Lion. that frozen food thing.. still pizza and fries here..and a whole lot of pork in various stages of cooked/smoked. There are maybe 2 sets of doors for fruits and veggies. Other areas are much better than I expected. Not only do they carry organic milk (albeit not grass fed) they have two brands.. one is a house brand. thud
An hour the other way is Aldi.

I worked in a grocery for quite awhile. Don't assume their hot foods deli is home made…it often isn't. Its a box of Stouffers or other frozen food item they put in the oven and heated up.
