How much money do you budget for groceries? How many people in your family? How often do you grocery shop?

Von Huxley says:

I often try to buy no more than $100 of groceries per 2-3 weeks. Stores like Kroger seem to be most budget friendly since I often find my favorite and cheapest foods there (many of them are generic brands). I NEVER buy from the organic section. Too expensive and unnecessary. Since then, I waste less than 5% of all the foods I buy.

I go for generic brands as much as I can, under 100$ each trip, to put it simply.

Shena52 says:

Love the list.😊

Mrs H says:

Monthly budget 200 for a family of 2 .we shop weekly…we are big on coupons for personal items cleaning supplies we end up getting those for free so we only have to buy food

dinaatjuh says:

Making soup is my best tip. Easy way to get extra veg in, easy way to clean out produce that's about to go bad. Also, if you don't have microwave like me, it's easy to reheat without loosing tastiness, better even most soups gain more flavor over night. I go grocery shopping once every 1,5 week. Without a car, carrying it all on my back, great work out 😛

doriestes2468 says:

I’m way too cheap, I refuse to buy prepackaged food if I can make it myself. It takes me less than 20 min to make fresh homemade tortillas that last a week. I make two loafs of bread for the week.

Jan Thomas says:

Tip #3 is the best one, because not shopping alone is a distraction. I’m a moderate couponer now, I use to be a extreme Couponer. Realized I was buying a bunch of processed foods, and that wasn’t good. So now I coupon for things that I’m going to use, and more fresh items…..

Jeff Rose says:

Awesome tips! We have 4 kids so any money we can save on food is HUGE.

Nick True - MappedOutMoney says:

Groceries for use includes all household items like paper towels, hygiene items, etc… We're typically in the $550/month range for me and my wife. I'm consistently trying to get that down, but it's definitely been tough.

Thanks for the great video.

Celeste says:

I usually make left over meals putting them in containers and freezing them. I might not want to eat the next day but I will eat them the next week!

Charlene Covington says:

As always these are some great tips. I do about 2 of the 10 things you mentioned but just in listening I know I could not only save money but be more healthy. This info. (like all that you share on your channel) really makes you take a moment and "think". Nothing you have ever shared is something that is impossible to do and that's why I love listening to you; it's like therapy. Pray for my diligence and strength to not only be a "hearer but a "doer". God Bless and thank you for "caring"!

renee skoyles says:

I’m glad I’m not the only one who eats leftovers 😊 good idea about being real and realistic with the fact that it’s just me so it’s more wasteful to cook more for something I know my hubby won’t eat the next day.

nmqb says:

Leftover snobs lmaooo, thats honestly me.

Grace Caudill says:

We are a family of three (baby is 8 months old) and I try and not go over $400-450/ mo for everything. (that includes formula, diapers, household items, paper products, etc). I try and focus on what we have and make it sort of a fun challenge! I hate waste too. It kills me !

Faith's Path To Debt Freedom says:

where have you been i feel like you have been gone forever. I enjoyed the video. Are you going to do November cash envelopes

Flo VD says:

What a great video!!! thank you so much. We are a family of 4, I do the big groceries once a month and go once or twice a week in case I need one thing, but I do lists, so it's easier. I've started meal plan three months ago and I already see the difference. 400€ (I'm French) a month for everything, i.e. food, household, etc

momof2 says:

Having a pantry (where ever you can put one) and monthly meal planning is key. When I was raising my family, I always made sure I had pantry items, and frozen veggies ready at all times so I could easily put a good meal together whether it was because of a busy night or because it was close to pay check time

Connie Porter says:

Leftover snobs here as well.

Jenn Watson says:

Family of 5, $800 a month.  This includes hygiene items, dog food, meds…basically anything we buy at the large grocery store and CVS.  I grocery shop once a week.  I've been meaning to try the online grocery order service but just haven't made the time yet.

Angie Johnson says:

$100 per person per month, so with 7 family members, I give myself $700. That includes paper products, hygiene items, cleaning products. It is not easy, but it is a challenge I have learned to meet. I shop once a week and use all your tips. Taking an inventory is probably the one thing that has been most effective- my meal plan begins with what I already have. I shop on Mindays, and by Sunday we have to get extremely creative. My family bugs me to make a small trip to the store because usually it's the snack foods that are running really thin, but I hold my ground and we make it work. 😊
