The RTX 4060 is faster than a RX 7600, slower than a RX 6700 XT, unless you use Ray Tracing, in which case it’s similar in performance to the 6700 XT. It is limited by the 8GB of VRAM however, so only buy it for 1080p.
The RX 7600 just launched, it’s similar in performance to the RX 6650 XT while having newer technology, I would opt for the 7600 over a 6650 XT at a similar price.
The RX 6700 XT is the best price to performance card on the market today (July 2023), but it won’t last long, the 7700 XT is coming and probably will be $100 more, for a bit more performance.
The RTX 4070 is similar in performance to the RX 6800 XT, while having less VRAM, costing $100 more, and consuming less power. It does have NVidia features like DLSS and better Ray Tracing.
The RTX 4090 isn’t really part of this conversation, but it’s the only card that truly is in a league of its own. Absolutely next-gen performance, it’s the one 40 series card that actually delivers a gen-over-gen performance boost that is exciting, if you can afford it.

I actually bought 670xt year ago.. its excellent card, and i dont see anything that could replace it.. 40 series definitely not, as im still on PCI 3.0, and 8 lanes are no go… I will eventually upgrade my PC, but right now, im kinda in a sweetspot, where i dont know if its even worth it.. i might just buy 5800X3D and replace my R3600, and keep the current setup for year or two.. after all, there are not that many games worth playing anyway…
Bought the Rx6700xt eagle for a couple of months ago (3000dkk on sale with a game) to replace my gtx1070.. First time ever with amd, and i am not disappointed..
Really can't understand why people keep buying expensive Nvidia cards..

4060 is basically a low-power 3060. You only really see the generational upgrades on games that support the new tech it provides. People who want pure rasterization or doesn't play DLSS supported games should look elsewhere.

Built a ryzen 7 5800x rig 18 months ago, but refused to over pay for a new gpu at the time – been doing fine with the gtx 1060 from my old rig – frigging card is legend! Talk about getting your money's worth! – Been a Nvidia guy for ever, but with amd's smart access memory function, and the performance per dollar you get from their gpu's, switching was a no brainer. Just ordered a XFX 6750 xt merc for $350. Get's here tomorrow, and I can't wait to spin it up!
Well I came from gtx 1060 6GB, I bought it in 2018, was gonna upgrade to 2060 but couldn't because the crypto miner caught all of us off guard, so instead of waiting for 2 years or so, I had to wait a total of 4.5 years to upgrade my 1060 to 4070, I couldn't believe I had that much patience, well there's no choice anyway since the price back then was just insane. So far I'm happy with the 4070, a little bit over my budget, but it got the latest DLSS3, very efficient in power consumption, and is able to keep up with my new 1440p monitor's refresh rate of 165fps.
There's no way I would upgrade to 30 series, since it's outdated card, remember I came from 1060, why would I upgrade to outdated card after waiting for 4.5 years? And any 40 series below the 4070 is not an option since it's 8GB cards, not gonna wait for 4060 ti 16gb, waited too long already. Initially I would just upgrade to 2060 or 3060, but then I realized that todays gaming resolution standard is moving up to 1440p, so I thought I should just get something better for 1440p resolution, it would be something like 3060ti or 3070, if it wasn't for the crypto miner, I would have bought the 3060 ti or 3070 probably, when it released, good thing I didn't or couldn't lol.
I've still got my 1080 GTX and it's doing me fine. But I want to upgrade for ray tracing so I guess I'll be going with the 4070. I had been thinking about going AMD. But if it doesn't match up when it comes to ray tracing then it's not worth it to me.
Having trouble finding a good deal on the 6700xt. Can't find any new near $300, more like $360 and up. Is that a price for a used card?

The 4060 is an xx50 card. Compare its specifications to the 3050 and you can see this clearly. So the price has increased by 20% over the 3050.

The biggest problem with all the new card's pricing is not only about inflation. The used US market is a 1080p gamer's paradise. 63% of Steam users participating in the survey are using 1080p displays. You can buy a GTX 1080 under $200 (eBay US), a card that can play most popular and demanding games at 1080p with 60+ frame-rates today (mixed settings in some scenarios). While high refresh or 4k/1440p high refresh rate is the goal for some enthusiasts, average PC builders looking to enjoy modern games on a 1080p display, have no reason to pay way too much for extra frames. Those frames at 1080p 60, doesn't make a game more enjoyable or better designed. Modern hardware benchmark channels are far too often focused on the FPS on the highest settings, but gaming enthusiasts are keen to play with settings to fine tune their personal experiences. I think I'm agreeing with this channel's perspective on this somewhat.
The size of the retail boxes framed in this video bothers me, as the cards themselves are not shown. The 4070 Zotac Spiderman card is 12.1" x 4.9" x 2.3" and the Asus Tuf 6700XT card is 12.6" x 5.98" x 2.28" meaning their physical dimensions in the real world are very similar. This may be an oversight of this channel or clever marketing by Nvidia, Zotac, and other board partners to further mislead customers. It seems to be an intentional misrepresentation of the products to me. One company figuring out what would look better with influencers by showing the product box alone. Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't like it.
