I have been an American Express member since 1985 and rarely have had any problems with them regarding normal credit cards and I have had several over the years. Unfortunately I can not say the same about these gift cards. Last year I decided to use some of my points and secured $2,000 worth of gift cards to use as holiday gifts for friends and relatives. I have encountered three things that will keep me from ever securing them again in the future.
1) The point value is twice as much as other vendors on their site. Its a rip off and you should just get other cards for other places you shop regularly.
2) Five times now I have tried to use the cards at establishments that accept American Express only to be told that they do not accept these cards or that my cards just do not work.
