As long as the "airpods" have decent mids they would be fine for podcasts and such. Headphones, especially IEM's, are so cheap to produce now that anything above 5 or 6 dollars usually sounds ok. There are exceptions of course and the $2 ones are still crap that have no bass and start distorting at 1/10th volume and you might get ripped off but generally 8 to 10 dollar ones are useable.
As Quinn said most of the money in these goes towards the BT and batteries so the actual drivers are 50 cent units which is obviously not good.

i got counterfeit air pod pro 2s and they were surprisingly good for being only $15 from temu. i never owned a official apple product and all the friends i showed it to could barley tell the difference even next to the real ones. they even had the same style ear piece to the real ones.
