The Castle Of Enlightenment says:

just an fyi the spectrum assist only has an extra $5 charge if you're renting their router instead of using your own. You can buy very inexpensive routers online used. hell a family member may even have an old one they no longer use.

i have used the $5 monthly program from ATT – i have saved lots of money each month which i save for emergencies!!

FreeForLife says:

I recently found the two programs to get myself free internet. I had been used to calling every year to try to get a better renewal price, and no one ever told me about these programs. Finally, one man told me about the ACP program and I got that, then I found out Cox had a low-income plan that was faster than the plan I was paying $68 for, and was only $30 for low income eligible people. I now have 100 mbps internet for FREE, saving me $68/month (for 50mbps).

Nashville Native says:

Most people don't have a choice there is only one Internet provider for their location. I am homeless and therefore I can't choose any of those

Susan Bernardi says:

What about satellite internet for those in rural areas and can’t get regular internet?

Bernaclis Churchill says:

Go info, but I do not qualify for any of these programs.

Lisa Miller says:

Some options to add (might not be the best for everyone). Check your mobile carrier. Some offer unlimited hotspot but limit the speed. Or they may offer so many GBs in your plan for free.

tom dildine says:

Spectrum makes you take a higher internet service before you can use the ACP. So you actually end up paying almost same with higher plan.

Mapuana Kupuna says:

Nicole, thank you for covering the issues with Spectrum!!

David Etherton says:

David Etherton says:

Helen Murphy says:

i have it may lose it, due to a nasty sw who got it on her computer not mine, she will not renew it, shes a creep

R R says:

Is there any way to qualify for this if you want one of those portable devices? I am thinking of this, because I know people who are poor and just go from house to house to sleep and live for a few days. They don't have a permanent address, but would prefer internet access on the go.

The Papaw says:

These are great ideas if any of them ACTUALLY provide service in your area. If not, you're left out to hang. DSL provider here actually booted everyone from service because they are to greedy to update outdated lines. And folks like Starlink WONT offer such aa program
