I absolutely hate grocery shopping so I'm sure I don't save like I should. But all food prices are out of control, and I feel it's the companies just being greedy. Higher prices for way smaller portions. I also go for quality over quantity. My downfall is sugar like juices and baked goods. Thank you for the advice! New subbie 🙂

If you microwave bacon, I'm sorry you have to go… Some sins can't be forgiven

As someone who has had to eat gluten free their entire life, I agree completely with what you said about just not buying gluten free specialty items and eat something else! Growing up this stuff didn't exist, and while I enjoy a gluten free Oreo as much as the next person, it's not going to improve my life.

I have tried baking GF bread in the oven and bread maker: no luck. We have no GF bread outlets either. So sad!

I usually ride my bicycle to shop at Costco. It solves many of my "non-frugal" issues. I tell my wife that I save $400 each tri[.

@jessicaschneider4043 says:

Also regarding gluten free, if it’s just an intolerance like my sister, she can eat the non gmo flour from Italy. The pasta they sell at Costco she can eat and has eaten bread made with Italy flour and is fine. Most of our food is trash and our bodies haven’t adapted to what we have done to the food.

Wall Street made billions of dollars off this gluten bullshit

@thomasmandalla says:

Organic does not mean less pesticides or fertilizer–it means a different variety that's derived from plants or other natural sources that are not purely chemical., Your organic produce might be sprayed with even more neem oil than the non-organic that got RoundUp.

I buy organic from a local farmer who relies on human power as the pessticide of choice and only does topical applications of organic pesticides. I don't do it because I think organic is healthier–I do it because he's sustainable.

It really is the best rice…

@PennyKemp1980 says:

I refuse to spend money so I can shop at your store!

@runawayshay6409 says:

I live in a pricey area. Grocery Outlet for most produce and meat, Trader Joe’s for snacks and shelf stable stuffs and ethnic stores for rice, spices and condiments. I process meat and produce for freezer storage within a day or 2 of purchase. I also limit the snacks to 1 salty and 1 sweet each week. The thing that saves you the most money is a bit of skill and planning.
