More than 2,000 Chipotle's shut their doors temporarily today. The shutdown was so that management could get employees up to speed on its disastrous outbreaks caused by tainted food, as well as changes in its food safety measures. The health scares have sickened about 500 people in 13 different states, and have blighted Chipotle’s reputation. The restaurant’s stock is trading 40 percent lower than its record high last year. And now the company is under a federal criminal investigation. Briefly, the company offered the public coupons for free burritos to make up for the closures--and perhaps the food poisoning. But now that's over.
