Coupon Overage
If a coupon value is more than the price of the item, the remaining value will be applied to the balance of the transaction. Coupon overage can only be applied to the balance and will not be given back at the end of the transaction. Coupon overages will only be applied to the store merchandise remaining in the transaction and cannot be applied to gift cards, pre-paid money cards or phone cards. Other restrictions may apply.
Cash back will not be given.

It's because of the overages. If you do 2 at a time out usually worlds BUT you won't get the overage

For the GF if you scan 2 items then a coupon, 2 items then coupon and so on they should be fine and your cashier has no reason not to do them that way. :-/ Sorry you had a crabby cashier :-/ Do you know how long the extra $2 off Garnier is running? I did 8 at 2 different stores last week and one was marvelous so I gave her 4 coupons and the other….well I stood my ground nicely and helped her through her grumbling to do them 2 at a time then a coupon and told her aw.. these were my last 4 coupons I wish I had more but I gave another store cashier down the road 4 of my coupons yesterday. She just glared at me lol Oh! The Purex had a .75 rebate off one on Ibotta last I knew. Savingstar as you said is $2 back on two.
Mine did beep though and they tried telling me that it was one coupon per purchase even though that was wrong so I just let it go and did multiple transactions.
You can get overage and it would just go towards other items.
technically they can key it in but due to new policy they can loose their job. they are no longer aloud to give you free items or they can get fired.
