Daniel Dazarola says:

Really thank u man. I''m from a latin-american country, and for my family is totally weird all I said about what I'm doing. I'm gonna keep it up and show them.

Derek Oware says:

After high school, I had an argument with my parents about this and I couldn't get this through their heads, they didn't believe and forced me into university, now am having divided attention with university and learning on my own ๐Ÿ™

Dean Lauvina says:

Needed this. Iโ€™m learning code right now but my parents want me to go PT school. Lowkey going behind their back and not telling them until I have that first developer contract in hand lol

Ala Eddine Menai says:

Father : what are you doing ?
Me : keeping your Google service work 24/24 h.

Parth Patel says:

Thanks bro I just wasted 3 years finishing my prerequisites for nursing like 16 classes more than that. I have the gpa to enter nursing school but I donโ€™t want to. I told my mom and my sister and they donโ€™t think itโ€™s a good idea. But I think I can do it. Been doing treehouse 6-12 hours a day. Thanks for the motivation been feeling really down lately.

salekin imran says:

Great inspiration Joe :)..this is absolutely true story

kristina marusincova says:

I get more understanding from this video than from family members, I like your opinion your video helped me feel much better after all day of learning (sitting behind computer with weird guys in videos). Thank you so much!

Amit Patel says:

IMO they'll only believe once you've actually gotten a web developer job and start making money.

CodeStories says:

Great video. Negativity came from everywhere when my journey in software development started. They thought I was tripping. Now I am chilling ๐Ÿ™‚

As B says:

Everyone supports me except for my mother. She tells me that im "not really busy" or "im not doing real work" bc I dont earn money from my coding right now & im not in a real learning institution like college, uni. Its challenging dealing with it bc I live with her & i have to hear it everyday. I dont want to "prove her wrong" bc that hasnt made her happy & bc shes never seen me as a child of hers that works hard, but I have & I do LOL so it wont change her mind in anything I do. Shes very ignorant to everything so I just have to be patient.

Kevosam Osas says:

I'm from Nigeria precisely and about to start learning how to code. Am still young and wud a CS degree be worth it now???

Freedom Miners says:

๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ Love it!!!

Curtis Davis says:

Thank You.. Coding doesn't take 4 years to learn, but it takes 'Hard Work'.

Wim Van Leuven says:

Right on the money. Before you take advice, you should qualify the source.
My dad's busting my balls for not getting a CS degree as he's claiming it'll be too hard to get a job, because the one guy he knows of his age got kicked out of a company for not being a team player. How is that even relevant?

Lucas P says:

Thats me 24/7 smh:( ——–> 9:02

Shayla hausler says:

Thank you Thank you so much joe for the Game…๐Ÿ˜‰โ˜บ๏ธ

slรธths says:

If y'all want a cs education using what's available online for free lookup

OSSU/Forest knights open source computer science degree GitHub repo or teachyourselfcs on google

Lorenze Jay says:

Just discovered your channel today. Lockdown gave me the opportunity to learn coding and I discovered web dev! Since April Iโ€™ve been learning, grinding, building with HTML, CSS, JS. I enjoy every minute of it! Iโ€™m 19 and contemplating returning to my college when Ima be taking all my classes online, I feel like thatโ€™s a waste of my time when I can continue learning on my own. Iโ€™ve discussed that with my dad but he doesnโ€™t get it. Overall, i like your enthusiasm yet realness. You speak with full experience cutting out the BS. Keep it up! Appreciate what you do! Got a sub from me

TazExprez says:

Great video Joe! Pretty inspiring!

Adewole Adewumi says:

Thanks to my boy Joe and codingphase.com I went in hard and the dream of being a developer is finally becoming a reality!! Stay tuned for the full gist.

Andrew Mapemba says:

Amazing Joe

Rashard Lewis says:

Learn to just agree with those people but keep working like they never said anything! The success comes after the hard work and they always believe when the success hits!

Stefano Pasqualetto says:

I live in Italy, spent from 2017 to 2019 to convert my pretty generic resume based on tourism experiences to frontend development.

From 2018 to 2019 I 've dealt with my parent's and my girlfriend parents telling me I was wasting my time, that I should have applied for public competitions to get a job from the government.

By the end of 2019 I landed a job as junior frontend developer, now I earn a good salary and most importantly I didn't lose my job because of COVID.

It wasn't easy, but in the end I proved to be the one in control of its life.

PS sorry for spaghetti English

Paul Muyeshi says:

Your right Joe

Anthony Agovino says:

Thanks Joe for another great video and inspiration to keep carrying on. Your remark at about 0:59 about old people moms, dads, uncles, etc. I resemble that remark. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‰I only wish my 16 yo son would start coding.

Death W says:

That's a very common thing you will face as a developer learning online instead of university but no one makes a video on it but joe does. The reason why you should follow him.
Love you ma man <3

Nancy Mikyska says:

It is hard to talk to family and friends who aren't learning web development…it just goes over their heads. In my experience. I don't regret learning how to code, not one bit. still working on making bank…the bag….but I see a future…
