Kitt Miller says:

Hi Renea, I'm a 72 year old vegan, because I am allergic to dairy, poultry, fish, seafood, oatmeal, chocolate, eggs, grains & more, Our food bank in my small town has nothing for me, plus it is 15 miles by cab to get there it would cost me $50.00 to get there and back, they don't carry items I can eat every month it is so hard to get enough food that will last me 31 days, I have recently been told to be careful about the number of bean meals i eat, The only grain I can have is rice, and frankly it's not my favorite, One of my favorite things is to have a huge salad each morning, then have soup, and grilled veggies for dinner I am always hungry at the end of the month.

I am so envious of your pantry room! It’s so organized. You’ve mentioned before how you struggled in your early years and I think God has blessed you to now be a blessing to others! Wonderful!

I think we used to call this a community, I had this. Then we moved to a main road and now I know nobody, we live in a tiny sea side town on the north west of the UK. It's sad.

Willia Goodall says:

Yes, it is really good that you all help each other out.

Caryn Van Wyk says:

Rosemary Clare says:

I think it's wonderful that you share amongst your neighbors and friends. It helps everyone and makes you feel good too. What is useless to you may very well be a treasure or godsend to someone nearby.

Debbie altman says:

That’s so nice that every one is helping each other.

Margaret Bedwell says:

Oh..another tip for those Kidney beans when they are canned. A friend of ours was the cook in the army and had received cases of kidney beans from the gov. He was trying to figure out how to use them up because you can only eat so much chili. He ended up using them in all his recipes for ground meat. He would drain and run them through the grinder, add to meat loaf, spaghetti sauce etc. No one was the wiser and it added loads of nutrition. For those who do not like kidney beans (like me) this would be a good way to extend your meat and get more nutrition. Hope this helps someone.

Elizabeth Harper says:

Hey Renea! So wonderful to give and receive and on and on. I am 70, living on a restricted income and I am so grateful we have food pantries here in the tiny town where I live. Sometimes I get food that I'm able to pass along and that's a good feeling. We also have a fresh produce food bank that gives one day a month. You just bring your own bags and show up. God is good. x, E.

Margaret Bedwell says:

So nice that y'all can spread the freebies so everyone can share. Great group of friends for sure. The bags of milk reminded me to tell you, I needed milk but didn't want to go to the store. I have powdered milk in my prep foods and it was time to rotate it out so this last two weeks I have been making 1 bag of milk (1 QT) and adding 3/4 cup of half and half to it. It tasted wonderful on my cereal, in my tea and I also made pudding. So glad I had that box in my pantry. I know instant milk pkgs. have gone up in price but I think I will still splurge and put a box back for emergencies. I have done well, eating from the pantry & freezer this month. The only purchase this month was a loaf of bread and a pkg. of Buns for BBQ and my son picked them up for me (no charge) bless him. List is ready for what I need to replace in February. Have a Blessed day.
