I bet the price increases are due to the increased import duty slapped on Chinese items by our super smart president.

I agree those "huge" packs of tools are chock full of low quality stuff. Those aside, I've been rather impressed with the quality of the "Pro" tools at HF of recent. However, I remember that or a similar pack of tools (see about 3:45 into your video, part number 69312) was in the clearance area (broken box or something). Some of the tools (sockets especially) had that feeling of junk about them. The rough castings, the poor job cleaning them up. The Chrome looking splotchy and seemingly dipped vs polished. I recall having some of those cheaper tools and they are now donated/sold/trashed as they constantly broke under my "more rough" use of them. It certainly did not phase me as I knew they were cheap and I bought them knowing they were likely to be a 1 use and didn't want to ruin my good tools in those cases. In fact the sockets make GREAT bending templates to bend hot steel around when I am black smithing. Funny how the COATING burns off (polished sockets do not do that).

Yet their "Pro" line – very nice. I would say roughly equal to the craftsman tools I bought just at the beginning of their slide downhill. Certainly not as good as my Snap On/Old Craftsman. Do not take that statement as being a tool snob either. Yet for the 3-4 Snap On tools I have, and the PILE of OLD school Craftsman (~40-50 years old?) I've abused the H311 out of them and they look newer and after a wipe with acetone cleaner / better looking / feeling than any of my other tools. And I mean ABUSED, like hitting the Snap On screw driver with a 5# dead blow mallet and it actually taking that abuse better than my Craftsman Prybar. I ended up getting a new bar with lifetime replacement…but REALLY? Am I advocating Snap-On all day every day? NO. however, I do appreciate there are GRADES of tools. And I certainly am in favor of the new Pro line HF brands. They do seem to be at the higher end of Hobby Level. Dare I say low end professional level?

What a good coupon price for the US General 72” if $999 isn’t good? My son is trying to decide between that and a used snap on toolbox. He said it’s in really good shape but I understand the lifetime warranty doesn’t transfer. And more than double the piece.

Brads Workbench says:

U still do the inside track coupons?

Thomas Smith says:

I still have your 169.99 coupon good till 2020
