Dan Kohlmeier says:

Do you know it is a penny before you check out, or are you assuming it is 75% off and don't know it is a penny until you scan it at the register?

In Georgia, at least, they will sell for a penny without issues. Also, January is inventory month were every item is touched and scanned, so now is the prime time to use this knowledge.

Justin Ver Steeg says:

My home depot claims to have 1 aisle of clearance. Do you find clearance items spread though out the store?

Matthew Della Maggiore says:

I know it’s probably not the same as packaged products but I once got three boards from the marked down lumber section. It’s supposed to be 70% off but they rang up for 1cent. I immediately went and got the other 20 and purchased them without any issue. Original price was about 10$ each. I don’t gamble but I imagine hitting a jackpot is a similar feeling.

Happy New Year and thank you for this helpful video. Question1: If you sell the mousetrap as a bundle of two, wouldn't it possibly have a mismatching UPC from the mousetrap sold individually? What extent do you go through to make sure that your item can be added to the existing AMZ listing? (for example, do you lookup UPCs based on ASINs to make sure your UPC matches that on AMZ?) Question 2: what is the app you are using for scanning your items?

Now I know. I found a light fixture for a penny once and was at self check out. They let me buy it even though they knew it was a penny. Still haven't sold it yet but for a penny I'm okay to hand on to if for a while. Thanks for the explanation.

The Grateful Hippie says:

If you have any dollar general stores near you, every Tuesday the HQ pennys out a list of items. If you search for DG penny list you might be able to get the list ahead of time. Now is the quantity resale worthy? Not likely, but It's still fun to hunt for them.

You forgot to mention that Home Depot stores do not have to sell these penny items to you and in most cases, they won't. If they find that an item scans for a penny, they will most likely not sell it to you. If you go through self checkout, which most Home Depot knowledgeable penny shoppers will suggest you do, and cashiers see that the item is a penny (highlights in yellow), they will stop you and not sell the item to you. Even if you try to call a manager, it is up to the manager if they will sell it to you or not; in most cases they won't bc these are items that they may be sending back to the manufacturer to get credit for.
On that note, I have gotten several penny items but not without getting upper management involved. The manager contacted Loss Prevention who ok'd for me to buy them for a penny. Hindsight, was it worth it? No. And I probably wouldn't push the issue if a manager says they won't sell an item to me. Not worth the time and effort. Just my experience penny shopping at Home Depot. Hope this helps.
