I work at Walmart Canada, we give back the overage because the coupon policy allows it. It doesn't matter anyways, because they are reimbursed the value of the coupon by the manufacturer. Coupons = MONEY guys, nothing in this world is free and coupons are valuable IMO.

They will give cash back both in the US and Canada, but it's a real hassle. They always have to call the CSM over. It's SO much easier to just throw another product in your basket to absorb the overage. I usually grab a box of pasta or a gallon of milk.

Recently my wife and I went to Wal-Mart here in Surrey BC and bought 17 bottles of sweet baby rae BBQ sauce their price was $1.97 we had coupons for $2 dollars off and they had to pay us $0.51 back.

Cheeky Saver says:

We have 4 stores that allow for overage. Walmart is the only store that will cash back and they are kind of a pain in the arse about it. Usually you have to pull out the coupon policy.

Anyways the 4 stores that allow for overage are, Walmart, Giant Tiger (it says so in their policy too just no cash back) Sobeys (but their prices are high and i have never gotten overage there) and Zellers. Things in couponing are constantly changing so double check before you head out shopping.

Sobeys will allow overages as well now

Awesome video, just wanted to update for any new viewers who may watch this video, that Zellers now does overage. There is one big difference between Walmart and Zellers overage though. Walmart WILL give you cash back if your total bill is negative, where as Zellers will not. Any overage at Zellers must be used towards other items so that the bill will not net a negative value. Hope this helps any new viewers out! 🙂

Actually, their coupon policy states that they will give cash back. I haven't tried it, but I have heard of people who have, and yes, they do give money back, or apply to 'basket purchase' — up to you.
Great videos btw… I've learned a lot from you guys
