I went to my grocery store yesterday where the weekly sales run Friday to Thursday. They had a sale on boneless chicken breast, the big package. It was the last one… it was marked down to $8 for 7 pounds, and it had a 50% off sticker so I paid 4 bucks! Going to bag them up and put into the freezer. I always check meat section whether it's on my list or not…

@DanielJacobs-t8q says:

Can't do Kroger or Target or Publix too expensive here in NC. I shop Food Lion and Walmart and Aldi. Food Lion gives a lot to the food banks

@sjchan3199 says:

I weigh my produce if there are scales other wise we guesstimate. I take a foto of items in cupboards and fridge before i go. I also work out the price of items on our list and total it up so i know how much it will cost. I also keep a running total on our shopping list sk i always know how much we are spending.

@steph3878 says:

If you go in for just a gallon of milk, don't get a cart!

@gillianbuonanno3211 says:

I pre-shop online. I check my pantry, my freezer. I keep $5 out of every check, and set aside for a food emergency sale….then, if a truly fantastic sale price comes up, on something we always use (olive oil, broth, etc) I have $$ set aside for that purchase

@MichaelFuxeklint-v5k says:

I always write a list what I need, in the store I can relax or just through it quickly 🫡🫡

@LS-ir7rl says:

I never thought to weigh prepackaged produce and buy the heaviest bag 🙂

@madeleinegauthier-j2h says:

well this is common sense for coolers at back store….the deliveries are at the back, and all the cooling kit for refrigeration chambers.

@noreen13-i4e says:

I always check for meat markdowns in my store and it saves me 50% to 60%.

@mk-nq8vm says:

We buy only for 1 week grocery. Strictly go by the list. If it is not on the list do not buy it. Shop by the lowest price unit per pound. There are 2 people in my family. That way we almost never trow away food. Make smoothies for the day. Sweets and alcohol only for 2 birthdays and 2 holidays. Eating out on birthdays only. For the 2 of us we spend about 500 a month.

@koekri says:

Take pictures of your pantry before you go to the store.
Can also do the freezer or fridge. I write the price I paid (just the numbers, I know if it’s dollars or cents) on most items w a sharpie for future reference.

Great tips❤

@cynthiavks says:

People might comment, “everyone knows that,” but maybe someone doesn’t. Put your leftovers in clear plastic or clear glass containers in the refrigerator so you can see what you’ve got at a glance. This keeps leftovers from being forgotten and rotten

@cynthiavks says:

(Larry won’t come on camera unless he gets pizza) 😂😂😂

@KLC777 says:

I always do a weekly food inventory and that saves me a lot of money.

@lorimartin3724 says:

We (2 adults 60+yrs) are meat eaters so I've gotten our full size freezer to the point where I only buy the special sticker sale meats. I have a foodsaver sealer to be able to portion it out and ensure it stays good.

Deal at my Krogers this week: 1 lb tube of 73% burger for $2.70. I bought 7 lbs and split them into half pound packages. That's $18.90 for 14 meals that usually produces 4 portions; now we're up to 28 portions. Works out to $.68 for each portion of the meat piece of the meals I prepare.

@rebeccabrockwell5353 says:

Bonne Maman jam is worth the $6! The blackberry is as good as my homemade but since I moved to the Midwest I don’t have tons of wild blackberries near me like I used to!

@alishaparr577 says:

I clean and organize my pantry and fridge before I go, it helps me know what I have in stock.
