I work for Morrisons, the times we are told or allowed to markdown items varies throughout the year but currently, as I write this we do our first markdowns (25% off) the night before for the next day, if you come in after 7pm youll likely see reductions for the day after. We do our second markdown to 50% off starting around noon on the day the item will expire or be past its best before. The final reduction to 75% off is done between 3pm and 5pm, my store and department are cleared to do ours at 3pm but i believe officially company wide the final reduction is supposed to be done after 5pm.

Too many variables I'm afraid. Where I live they either take tiny reductions off items or don't reduce them at all.

You missed yellow stickers for Tesco club cards , Lidl will have 30% clearance on orange stickers , having club cards will gather points and get them offers on some food items or cash vouchers
