I guess if you don't have a Kroger's plus card you can't randomly ask someone to borrow theirs in line . This process is so confusing.
I often leave items on the shelf as I can't figure out how to apply the correct coupon. If I find an item with a sale attached which is on my list, I just don't buy it, I then order it from Amazon, even if it's a little more expensive.

I clipped the coupons onto my account, entered my phone number that is linked to my account and after looking at my receipt I DID NOT GET THE COUPON DEDUCTION. THIS IS DECEPTIVE AND SO I UNINSTALLED THE KROGER APP AND WILL NOT BE SHOPPING KROGER ANYMORE!

And now in Oct.after I finally figured out how to use it, they redesigned the site. Back to square one. Very confusing for seniors. If it wasn't for gas points , I'd go to HEB.

So how do I use the clipped coupons at self checkout?
I work for Krogers as a cashier. Unfortunately, many of us just don't understand the process (myself included). But there are many fine lines to read between making it even more confusing. I deal with this issue all day. Also, we have a stack of the sheet with all the digital deals right beside the store paper at the entrance. About the only time we run out is more towards the end of the sale week. I promise you, the first thing I want as a cashier is to make all my customers walk a way happy. It's that darn fine line that gets most ppl. The add will say one thing, but the sticker on the shelf doesn't say a limit. It's like you have to cross reference 3 different sources to figure out the problem. And let me tell you, it is wonderful fixing all these mistakes after the investigation, while keeping watch on 5 other self checkout registers.
The coupons are not automatically applied to your account because they are hoping you will not miss them and pay full price. The coupons are a method to get you into the store so you have the illusion that you're saving money and they hope you will buy items you had not planned to get in the first place.
The problem with the bar codes? In both Kroger's near me most of the way through the store? You can't get your phone to link to Krogers App due to their electronics in the store especially near the freezer or refrigerated areas I have literally had to go outside the store to get mine to work. I have just started seeing the digital flyer in our stores however they have it at the Customer Service Desk instead of at the store entry with their paper flyer making it inaccessible for people walking in the store and a extra step before you start shopping to have to go to the Customer Service Desk to get it. And I agree Why Not Just Have It On Your Card to begin with? I am glad this whole issue is being addressed, it's not only Krogers but Giant Eagle and their website is definitely hard to navigate. I dislike this whole Digital Coupon thing altogether. Anna In Ohio
Now to get Kroger to honor them. You clip them and they never show on your receipt. You do not get credit .
