I'm 52 and the digital coupon thing is a pain. They advertise the coupon price and you sometimes don't notice you are supposed to have coupon. It makes you feel embarrassed to get someone to "help" you by removing all the items you thought were on sale. Makes me just want to go somewhere else. I hate it. Thank you for reporting on this. I tried to apply for it but it didn't work saying email address already exist. I'm so frustrated. Why not just make things cheaper.
Thank you for reporting this news! I help a lot of Seniors with this. Thank you again!
I noticed at my Kroger they’re always nice to Seniors regarding digitals in fact I used to see them scanning a bar code they had for them at self checkout to get digital sale price
At one time, Kroger had a printout with barcodes for the digital coupons. But that would be labor intensive for barcodes for EACH coupon. Would be nice if they had a master code for any of the store sponsored sale coupons.
I live in a tourist beach area. I have seen Kroger cashier ask what is obviously tourist if they have a shoppers card, they say no, then the cashier scans a card they have at their register. Not sure how that work but it shows they are trying.
reading the comments here, I realize I am fortunate to have such great Kroger stores in my area.
I have seen Kroger cashiers give seniors the discount despite them not having the digitals clipped. He showed the sale paper to the cashier the print ad and she first told him he had to clip the coupon. I don't think he even understood what she was saying so the cashier just price adjusted the items. very decent thing to do.
You know the stores are going to want to get reimbursed by the manufacturer so some how there is going to need to be a tracking system.
I have created and keep up with email accounts and kroger digital accounts for both my mother in law who is 83, and my aunt who is 75. We all need to step up and help our senior citizens with today's technology. Be the person they need you to be. ❤
Funny that Kroger is cognizant that Seniors might struggle with digital coupons but they have discontinued the paper sale ads as of this week. Yes you can get a copy in the store but they can’t preplan.
Thank you I am a senior so I am very interested
I don't understand why not have all coupons automatically clip to your account so no one has to deal with searching n clipping coupons each week. Be so much easier for everyone including the elderly
My parents don’t understand digital coupons my mom is blind, my dad is in early dementia. Kroger is not going to help the older people. Going to customer service is not going to help, they are gonna have a mile long just trying to help the elderly.
Last month I decided to no longer shop Kroger stores. I was a long time paper couponer and did fairly well however Kroger has way too many hoops to jump through for a small saving. Kroger is controlling what day people shop and at what time as well as what they buy and how often. I don't like being a Kroger puppet. I now shop only at stores who do not require so many steps and offer up front honest sale prices with no hoop jumping. I may pay a little more but save much more of my time for life.
Thank you, Shana for a thoughtful video! As a senior kissing 70, I do understand the challenges for people my age with technology. It's expensive, physical limitations as we age can be a barrier and there is a learning curve as we weren't raised with it. However, embracing technology does eventually pay off as you're more connected to the world and it can make some aspects of aging easier (love my robot vacuum😃). My point to my fellow gray hairs is we're old enough to know that nothing in life is free, if you want the benefits you have to work for it, jump into this new world you may find it enjoyable.
Great video. Here in Southern CA, we have Ralphs stores as our Kroger affiliate store & the “customer service” desk is one cash register stand in the front of the store that does not have a dedicated person always there, they should just have the cashiers have a special override card they can scan for people who do not use digital coupons via smartphone or the elderly people….I rarely shop at my Ralphs anymore because the cashiers & a couple of the managers too act like they are “coupon police” & they do not even understand that you can use one store coupon SC & one manufacturer coupon MC on the same item… I do not like getting hassled by then trying to honestly use coupons. 😮 have been doing most of my shopping lately at VONS (which is a division of Albertsons/Safeway) where they understand coupon policy correctly. Thanks for this great video.
I am 65 and use my laptop for Kroger digital coupons.I do not enjoy using my (admittedly small) smart phone to access my Kroger account. I have found that the weekly digital deals can be added by the cashier at checkout. I would not like to get all of the digital coupons automatically loaded to my account as I load just he coupons I want and then print those to take to the store with me. I have not gotten any print coupons from Kroger by snail mail in a long while but almost everytime I am in the store I see folks using Kroger print coupons.
My brother and sis in law are 60. Smart peeps, but got left behind in school. Tight budget and cannot figure out how to clip coupons. I sat down with them and got it all figured out with them on their phones and they can't seem to grasp the concept. I am older but I am a coupons. I only see them in the winter so can't help them. Sad.
Most the time there is no one at customer service
I like the fully loaded every transaction "master" Kroger account idea. That would be a huge help. It's going to be interesting to see how they roll out the changes. 🤔
I think they should create a special card that automatically allows the coupon.for the elderly.
