Tip #11, don't buy during the COVID19 craziness. The prices are ridiculous right now! Folks are buying laptops that sold for $500ish a few months ago at $700-750 right now.

Hey Josh, hope you had a great weekend. I'm curious about your opinion regarding MacBook Pro 16. For me, I use both PC and Mac ( PC for highly demanding task). Seeing the performance improvement from Vega 20 to 5500 M pro, the performance improvement is not good enough for me to buy a new laptop. The CPU is still the same (good old Intel's 14nm +++++++). Next year, we won't most likely see 10nm chip for high end performance laptop from Intel. I think the rumor around ARM chip powering MacBook is premature. I'm always not sure why AMD has so difficult time optimizing graphic cards. AMD's graphic card is based on 7nm TSMC and the performance still can't beat Nvidia's 12nm.. Like what? Next year, Nvidia's Ampere (7nm) will come to the market and I think it's better to wait for next year. The performance gap alone from GPU (12nm to 7nm for Nvidia) will be very significant. This leads me to whether MacBook Pro 16 is really worth of money. Good job for Apple for finally putting moderate graphic cards in 2019. Good job. But yeah.. I like laptop (even though my desktop PC uses 2nd gen threadripper and Nvidia 2080 Ti) for portability. And like you said, there aren't laptops right now that I want to buy. They just are not worth of my money. Yeah. It sucks.
