I'm the dept manager for elec and when they ask me to look up a upc i ask for product detail. i know what i have in inventory. my inventory vs what i actually have dont actually match sometimes. you have to understand that some tvs do walk out the door without being paid for. my store manager sometimes refuses to take a hit when i try to fix my inventory count. thus, when clearance comes around and customers want in on great deals and demand i look up by upc or want me to walk to the backroom and look for non existent items it does get a bit frustrating. i could walk to the back hang around a few minutes and come back pretending i searched high snd low, but i refuse to lie to my customers. i know some take me as if i didn't want to look, but believe me when i say i know my true inventory
