You are SO right about what the receipt says you "saved." Even 5 cents spent on a $1 bag of candy is not 95% percent saved, it's 100% wasted. (Not that I'm saying no one should ever buy candy, but a person shouldn't fool themselves into thinking they're saving money by buying it). Conversely, if you pay full price for a bag of dried beans, your receipt will say you saved 0%, but compared to other things you could buy to eat, you're saving a lot of money.
I wish we had stores like that! $50 a week is amazing !
