I work at an AMC, and there is a certain kind of gift card that has been discontinued and doesn't work anymore. I have to tell guests to call the number on the back in order to get the money off of it, and it's usually not well received. AMC, why? (P.S. if your gift card number starts with 600, it won't work anymore)

Unless coupon says participating stores and sign in door saying not a participant you have to honor the coupon. You're not losing any money as corporate reimburses. Not cool. Never had a problem any Subway with those buy one get one.

I’ve worked in retail for roughly 10 years and the absolute best story I have is to do with a coupon issue!

Basically this older couple (60s) came in, looking very fancy, and tried to buy some wine with a coupon; there were two problems with this the first being it was in Scotland and you can’t run discounts on alcohol so this was an England and Wales offer. The second being that it wasn’t even for our shop. As the supervisor on shift I got called down to the til to sort the issue out and explained to them these two issues. They did not understand and became irate. It was as if I had personally decided to demean them and refuse the coupon for no reason. They threatened me that they’d go to the papers with this and even call corporate to which I actually provided them with the number and gave my name and employee number. Never heard a peep about it after that.

Pretty gross what you are doing trying to do in regards to making the customer seem like the bad person in this case. Is it really that hard to see things from the customers point of view, I think most people find her reaction understandable. In fact after looking in the comments, yeah most do. If anything you should get annoyed at the franchise and find reimbursement from them.

i still do the bogo promo code on the app and pre pay, so people like your parents can't do what they did, 2 roast beefs 1250, that's rediculas price for one, that store is wrong for discriminating coupons

The only one time I used a coupon was when our dad got a coupon where I can get 1 pieces of roasted chicken drumstick with thigh and rice. It's quite a cheap meal but back then we were poor, so the time I used it was when we actually don't have food and I shared this 1 piece chicken with my mom and younger sister.

I think I'd understand giving away the coupons to people that really needs it.
