Is that cost of the meat the total amount of what you paid for the 1/2 cow & the butchering charge? That seems really cheap if it is. I have bought meat from a farmer in the past (prior to 2015) and didn’t get it that cheap after the processing fees.

I'm seeing grocery prices increase here in the UK as well. I typically used to spend £90 on my Tesco delivery for 3 adults. Now it's usually £120 or more when I need to buy in laundry detergent. Loving the Tesco loyalty scheme. I saved coupons and have £129 for Christmas. Or that poverty week before January payday 😉

The prices of gas food etc goes up and down in cycles every so many years. Now everyone panics about everything.

Lisa Liberati says:

I have been seen this and feeling these high prices and they are climbing.

Angela Forcier says:

Good tips , we also buy many things in bulk , but one of the biggest savings is buying beef from a local farmer , we also payed about 2.85 per pound for steaks and hamburger , such a good deal and great quality beef

Another stock up if you have the room When the store has the 10 for $10 sale & it’s actually a better price then the regular single price, get the 10. I did this a few weeks before thanksgiving on canned veggies since I was out, as well as the pouch’s of mashed potatoes & rice. I now have enough for about 2 months & it will all get eaten. I do the same with powerade, those sales of .77 a bottle I get 10-15 every time. I use my safeway app & save about $5-7.00 every time.

Melissa Ventura says:

Great info, I saw the smithfield bacon was 5.99 at winco in phoenix as a few weeks ago, 2 weeks ago it was 6.99. I saw it on sale at safeway for 3.99 and grabbed one. I use the app for safeway, target, get my GB & chicken at costco 2-3 times a year and it is really good meat. I also shop at Winco for my regular grocery store, as well Smart & Final where I get my 25lb bag of flour & my sugars. I only use Tillamook cheddar cheese & its 8.95 to 9.50 for the 2.5lb loaf at my costco & it’s always cheaper at costco -every grocery store it’s 10.99-13.99 at the stores. I take cash out of my paychecks for grocery shopping & separate out grocery vs take out cash-whatever I have left over after that 2week period I put that away for my next costco trip-definitely helps out.

Kimmie thanks for sharing tips to save. Here in the middle of California I pay
$3.14 for a gallon of milk, $4.74/lb for bacon (@ Costco), $1.89 for dozen eggs
and .74 cents bunch of celery. You bet I've been stocking up on bacon for my freezer! After Jan 1st our price is supposed to skyrocket. We've been trying to be more mindful of food waste and definitely adding more of the items when they are on sale.

Heavy D's BBQ and Grill says:

I can't find flour at Sam's club near me for some time now. I went to an Aldis and bought 7 bags at $1.15 a bag. These prices and product shortages are so frustrating. Thank you for sharing this! So helpful!

Alison Phillips says:

I need more hours in the day to make all the things to keep up because I have been making things from scratch to save money but I just can’t make all the things and clean the kitchen to get ready for meals. Making bagels now in the bread machine while getting ready to start granola in the oven and chili on the stove. Took out already made and frozen taco meat and enchilada sauce to make enchiladas for dinner for tomorrow and lasagna is already made in the freezer so I need to take out to thaw. Still need to make pumpkin bread and some cookies but might have to wait until tomorrow. Making all the things is rewarding and tasty but so much more time consuming. Hoping it saves lots of money in the long haul though.

Melanie Turner says:

Inflation has even hit Dollar Tree, everything now is $1.25 no more $1.00 items.
