On our way up to Garnet Hill in Ely, Nevada we stopped to move a large rock out of our way and discovered it hosted some of the most beautiful turquoise! The matrix (the rocky parts around or inside the mineral or gemstone) reminds us of boulder opal which is one of our other favorites. Anyway, if you’re in the area make a trip up and take some of the off-roads. You never know what you’ll find! Happy Rockhounding!
Looks like malachite as well. Cool stuff.
Copper still cool
Its copper ore (chrysocolla)
chrysocolla not turquoise still cool
really dumb video, and how about shooting landscape not portrait.
Copper! Not turquoise
You probably found the minerals malachite (green) and azurite (blue) but its hard to say just from a video.
Definately copper ..
Yes, sorry to disappoint, but what you are finding is a form of copper sulfide, as you originally mentioned–chrysocolla. You should be out in that mine dump with a metal detector looking for gold/silver instead. Chrysocolla is a great indicator for those metals. Good luck in your future hunting!
thats copper not turquoise
that's not turquoise. been rock hounding there my whole life. it's rock with trace amounts of Copper and silver in it.
