Hi Melanie. Your techniques for managing your grocery budget are fabulous. I refer people to your videos all the time, especially when they don't believe that I can manage on $50 per person/week annual average, including cleaning/paper products. Your weekly budget is much more restrictive. I especially like that a number of your meals would be family friendly and that you include chips and cookies. So realistic. I found the US based channels are mostly cooking with canned and prepared foods purchased for the challenge. They don't live the challenge, as you do. Could you address larger families occasionally? If you were buying for 4 people, would you find that your pantry could be more varied earlier?

Hi Melanie 🤗 You had some great meals this week as usual. Chicken and rice and the poutine looked especially yummy! Garden looks promising with the rhubarb and strawberries ☺

Eileen Kelly says:

Another great week! Your meals always look so yummy. I’m not a big poutine fan but yours looked delicious with the homemade gravy.
Like you, I rarely get take out and when I do, I often think “I could have made that much cheaper at home.”😄 But sometimes life is just busy and I decide it’s worth it to get takeout, especially if I can get a couple of meals out of it.
Hope your renovations go well and you can soon get back to normal!

Sounds like you need a new battery in your smoke detector. You have certainly shown that you can build a big pantry while sticking to a budget. 😊

Wow….. those muscles! Do them in a little wine or beer is great too 😊

Mandy Roy says:

I got those blueberries too. They're holding up well, I got them Monday.

Sounds like your smoke detector needs a new battery or servicing.

Missy Sanders says:

Great job as always! I love your shaker. Have a wonderful weekend.

You are still doing a great job!! Nice meals, that chicken, rice, green bean meal looked so yummy!! You have quite a bit of stuff collected up. I see with the pasta shells and some veggies a nice pasta salad for lunches. Your little garden is looking good too. Thanks so much for sharing, take care and see ya soon 🙂

Melanie, I love that phrase about working hard for your money, so your money should work really hard for you. It seems intuitive, but I know many, many people that do not live this way. And actually see no value in living that way. Heidi in Vancouver
P.S. Love your fast fuel coupons. We don't have those. (at least not in the city, and we just got rid of our car that died anyway)

Barbara Gilmer says:

Great job as always. It is possible to eat healthy, plentiful and tasty meals on a small budget. I hope the renovations went well too!

You should have some cards made up, and then you can pass them out to people when the grocery store thing happens again. They can have your You- Tube information
Yumm …poutine…your gravy looks great,
It really is amazing how large your pantry is growing. I'm very impressed.
It really is amazing how expensive a take out pizza costs. …basically a week of groceries
