your suggestion is really enlightening
This was true, i was thinking again why i had to resign on my previous job which they are the biggest company in my country.
Some part of me were felt the imposter syndrome too.
Kinda feel i dont deserve it, and just want to quit.
Then lesson were learned, since I finally back to my programming passion instead of working in a legal, marketing of else which i took for getting the experience.
Well, to get over Imposter Syndrome, i just simply embrace if i am not genius, it just took time to understand the code.
And… in the moment when i can do it, It's better to share it to others since it was the form of sharpening the understanding.
(Sorry for my bad english, tried my best) ๐โ
Hi Mayuko the Harvard Business Review article โStop Telling Women They Have Imposter Syndromeโ (can also apply to people of color in general) is a must read. We (minorities) can have different work and communication styles and that is OK and the sooner โmajorityโ America realize that, the better we will be.
Me: *Been at this for 6 hours now and still haven't figured it out… just gonna ask the Tech Lead*, Hey Tech Lead can you help?
Tech Lead: Sure, do this and this and try and see if you can figure out what to do next.
Me: ….. I'm getting fired.
Loved the video. Thanks for the great advice ๐๐
I'm on the opposite end. I'm personally trying to place myself outside of the comfort zone so I can learn and grow more but I feel like that one meme where the person is trying to leave their comfort zone then gets punched right back in. It's happened multiple times already and I try to be positive about it but over time, it really wears down your confidence and motivation.
I've heard some where that in general if you have more intelligence, then you are more likely to doubt yourself because you are more aware of your own flaws. So that's one way to rationalize why those in tech experience imposter syndrome.
Thank you for sharing this Mayuko! Love your channel
Managed to bag a good job with good pay …. three days in I feel like the dumbest guy in the room …. I was consistently the top performer during my internship at another company, so the shift was kinda abrupt …. watching the video & reading similar experiences in the comments has convinced me to stick around and give my best till im fired XD .. I'll trust the judgement of the 2 guys who took my technical rounds
Word of advice to everyone, dont care what others think of you, and that will help you a lot.
needed this video today, thank you.
The biggest problem with imposter syndrome is confusing it with the Dunning Kruger effect…
Ive learned over the last 5 years in corporate america is that the people who think they are all that are stupid, and the people who think they may not be all that, are often times smarter than they think.
this helped me so much <3
