How To Offer Discount Code with Free Shipping – Discount Ninja Shopify App
Basic Shopify plans do not allow you to combine discount codes with free shipping correctly nor do they allow for you to make changes to the CHECK OUT page so all logic has to be performed BEFORE they get to the checkout page.
Shipping is calculated on the total order so this throws a wrench in combining offers.
If you have a discount code like 10% off all products and you want to offer free shipping you will run into problems if the discount code forces the price under $75. They would not get free shipping.
Examples:
If you have shipping setup to be free for anything over $75 and someone enters your promotion code to get 10% off
Example 1:
Product is $75: If I check out now, then shipping will be free. IT WORKS!
Example 2:
Product is $75 and they enter your promotion code to get 10% off. Your total is now $67.50 and below the $75 threshold for free shipping. So, you would get the discount BUT not Free Shipping. IT DOESN'T WORK!
SOLUTION: Use one or more apps.shopify.com to accomplish this. Yes. I know another monthly subscription app. But if you are set on this feature and staying with Shopify then this is the solution. We like Discount Ninja and are not affiliated with them in any way.
