FAMILY OF 5 FOOD BUDGET. HOW TO SAVE MONEY ON GROCERIES. So our grocery and personal care budget was averaging out to $938 a month. I recently discovered a new channel and was amazing to learn Amanda was feeding her family of 5 for only $100 a month! I used her techniques and was able to reduce our grocery bill by $300 just the first month. Can’t wait to see if I can reduce it further.

Good tips. FYI, if you dont like food you buy at costco, they will return it. Our costco membership ran out in April and we have not renewed it either because of Aldi. I used to never shop at Aldi because I have to drive 30 minutes to the nearest one. But I started going every week. We Went from spending $1300 a month to $500 for our family of 5. However, I do not include our meat in that. We buy our meat separately from local farms. So we were spending that much not including meat!!!! Its terrible I know. Aldi has been a huge benefit, even with the driving. I do still love Costco's frozen produce for smoothies and their Wild Caught fish. So I stocked up on our last visit there. Not sure how I will handle when I run out of it!

Hi, I recently suscribed to Amanda, and I been amazed by her grocery budgeting and been trying to incorporate some of her tips into my routine, however I have a BJ's membership, similar to Costco, mostly to get out meat, what I like about Costco and Bj's is that their meat is always the freshest and better quality, for 1 tray of meat I can make 3-4 meal for my family of 4. We don't have an Aldi's or Kroger, the discount stores I have near me are Save a lot , Winn Dixie and Walmart, and most of the time their meat doesn't look fresh.

I also just found Amanda's channel and would also love to know more about budgeting for personal care and pet items. We don't have kids, but we have 3 cats that are somewhat spoiled. I am just finishing a video where my husband and I grocery shopped this weekend, somehow spent over $450 on paper items, personal, pet products and grocery and our groceries were only $173 The rest of that for non edible is outrageous!! Mind you we don't spend that much every month, but still. I am really excited to try to save more on our next shopping trip using Amanda's technique. Thanks ladies for your inspiration and changing lives.

Famina Skaria says:

One thing I am guilty of is running to the grocery whenever I need something. We have so many right around our house so it's always on the way. I need to work on that. For the household items if there is a really good deal we stock up enough to last for a few months if not more. I know those items will always get used so I don't mind buying a lot of those items at once.

The Fundamental Home says:

Mina, I am so happy for you! You understood my purpose completely! You were right. Not everyone gets it. The goal was to share my techniques to help others save! I am so proud of your success!! My goal is to make a video on personal care items by the end of the week. We only shop for soap on Saturdays (long story), so it will most likely be after that. I will be sure to share a link with you when that video is complete. Thank you so much for sharing the videos and blog posts! I hope you are able to meet your goal of $500 this month!

Awesome! I have "thought" about checking the pantry before shopping but I almost NEVER do it. That is sooo wasteful. I just cleaned out my fridge this morning and threw away way too much food. I think checking the pantry along with meal planning based on what we already have will definitely save money. I did check out Amanda's channel and love it, thank you.

The Texas Mom of 3 Diaries says:

Do you count your savings rate based on your net or gross income?

Alia Khan says:
