It does not mean that the products are for sell for penny. It's means to the employees those are goods that the companies are marking down. If I were the manager I would not sell them to customers. Because as you very well know those items are not a penny. Someone has to pay. This can make not so smart employees loss their jobs.

I work at dollar general and they soon will be doing away with penny items because people are making such a big deal out it and people will come into the stores destroying the selves looking for penny items leaving the store a wreck. Btw penny shopping is no secret we know who the penny shoppers are and we can spot you instantly. And to tell people that we are lying when we say that we can not sell the item, you are lying because the register will immediately tell you to remove the item and refuse purchase and the system refuses to ring it. You don’t work for DG so you don’t know you people are assuming!!!!!!

You have no clue what store policy, is, you idiot, and no, that's not it. They are not lying to you when they can't sell it to you. If it were something you were supposed to do, you wouldn't have to hide your camera, nor keep it secret. There's so many things wrong with your logic, lady, you might wind up arrested. I'm a manager at Dollar General and I can tell you for a fact that any recalled food CANNOT be sold. There is a (STOP SALE) placed on it and the register wont even ring it up. It prompts to promptly remove that item from the sales floor and discard. We just had a recall on Nabisco peanut butter and crackers and Goldfish crackers because of a salmonella outbreak…I would hope that no one would even want to eat recalled food. But go ahead with your bad self. lol
