Some sealed foods can last years after expiration dates
I live near an Amish settlement. There are a couple grocery stores they run that sell discontinued and dented/damaged products. Most items are in date still but are very cheap bc of the dented/damaged, discontinued. Lots of people are shopping these places. Ex: Box of branded cereal $1.75 in date just a box that's been crushed.
If you go to Walmart, you can buy their clearance food and freeze it. If you have a food saver you can store most food for over a year.
Can foods literally last forever.

Past the Best By date is just that Best By. Can food is still good long after that.
