S. Korean government launches discount coupons to revive stagnant economy
문체부, 숙박•여행 등 소비할인권 861만명에 선착순 지급
To try and stimulate the local economy, the South Korean government is going to issue new discount coupons to more than eight million people... who'll be able to use them to enjoy movies, travel, accommodations, performances, exhibitions and sports.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has set aside more than 76 million U.S. dollars for the coupons from its portion of the government's extra budget.
For accomodations, the coupons offer discounts of up to about 35 U.S. dollars.
For cultural performances like musicals, it's up to about 7 dollars per person.
The coupons will be available from this Friday.
