Yeah I agree!!! You gotta know your prices!!! I know at Crest (here in Oklahoma) I can get chicken legs and thighs for $1.99 or less on sale and bacon I can get 2 for $4 on sale. And the sales ads rotate throughout the month. You just have to pay attention. 1 week certain items are MAJORLY DISCOUNTED and other weeks they may still be “on sale” but not nearly as good as the sale the week or so prior. I have a list of items that we need to get (the next time I find a great deal) on my phone grocery list… and when I find it I’ll add the price I found it at… that way when it’s crossed off my list I can go to the bottom of my grocery list and find all the items I’ve checked off … and see what I last paid for that item!!!

Do you scan your receipts on sites like fetch, Ibotta, receipt hog, etc? You can get cash or gift cards. Could come in handy!!

Combined growing certain veges which are almost free to grow with volunteering. Then we cut our food costs by 65%.
♥ Weekly Tuesdays- Volunteer at the Community Center's $10 Organic Meal. Choice of 3 dishes. Grants, donations fill in the gap since this is a high end meal which costs more than $10 a plate.. We eat free for volunteering. They give us about 3 plates!
♥ Monthly Food Bank- Volunteer. Take home the expired organic milk & eggs. I make Farmers Cheese out of the Milk cooking it over a bonfire. Eggs for our church meal I provide every 6 wks. I also make egg based home-made dog food for our dogs given 2x a wk
♥ I grow these 100% free because they are easy to grow and replicate themselves in droves!- Potatoes, peppers, green beans, herbs, peas, ginger, garlic, onions, etc. Sweet potatoes are part of our dog food receipe+ green beans (pole/bush beans)
♥ Weekly Sun Church free meal. It's also for the community, no need to attend church. Every 6 weeks, I provide the food for 50 people. use my homegrown potatoes & peppers to chop up into 3 huge crockpots. Add my homemade farmers cheese. I only buy 2 pkgs of bacon when on sale (in bulk) Costs me $11 to feed around 50 people.
♥ Again, with the massive amounts of expired organic free eggs & milk- I sell both the farmers cheese I make and the homemade dog food (Ingredients: Sweet potatoes, green beans, I buy rice, & smashed up apples with smashed up sea shells for calcium- 6 eggs to one ziplock bag. Sell for $1, give the proceeds to the church since Id be donating anyhow and members like to buy my dog food. Can only give egg based organic dog food 2x a week max
♥Certain veges replicate themselves. A bag of organic old potatoes, each potato has 3-4 eyes. Cut the eyes out, toss into the compost (you got the manure free) and they grow into 3-4 different potatoes. So you eat about half of that potato. Soon you have endless free potatoes. You just have to keep getting more manure to make the compost, that's the work. Same with Garlic. There are 10-12 sections in garlic, you toss a few sections back into the manure to turn into two more garlic cloves. Each section= a new garlic clove. We also grow sunflowers to attract bees and they're free, easy to replicate. Learn what grows in your area, and start learning how to grow it. Grow 5-8 items and trade it with other hobby farmers.
♥ Start a hobby farm club to trade. We trade our potatoes, garlic, green beans, onions, farmers cheese & homemade dog food at the Produce Swap held at the park. It must be a swap, not a farmers market as we all just grow what we can and trade with each other. Red Tape is too much, if you call it a farmers market in our state. Others show u with homemade soaps, oils, cinnamon sticks, homemade bread, ear-rings, etc. You can trade with anyone, about 8 booths show up at once. If they don't show up, we meet up together in winter at my house to trade. I live in North San Juan California where there are plenty of events to bring your wares/produce. They ask 10% donation, honor system, to a max of $20 per day. We also make homemade maple syrup for free, just cook the sap and it becomes syrup.

i buy the cheapest xtra or sun laundry detergent, my clothes dont get very dirty, i read somewhere, a chemist or something said you only need to use a little bit of detergent if your wash is not heavily soiled. I can make it last along time.

I love comparing States prices to ours in Toronto & I am sure every state is different its fun to see. We have points cards I like to use too at every different store I shop i like to save the points up & use for Christmas. Since we all went through food rations in 2020 I keep a running 3 month stock of most items on hand. Lots of the same items come on sale once a month somewhere so you can always shop on sale you got it right Mama good savings!!!
