I grew up in the USA – taking grocery stores for granted. After traveling to different countries & watching videos like this – i am amazing by American grocery stores and will not ever take them for granted!!! Thank you for this episode!!!!!!!

Thomas Magaha says:

Idk how you would even organize a pallet based on a store’s aisles without 75% of them collapsing before making it into the trailer

bentonscrivener says:

You can easily note the difference in stock levels and general availability of products in grocery stores during Bidenomics, as compared to grocery stores during my entire life…garbage administration!!!! GARBAGE!!!!!!!’

Scott Zukowski - Film & Video alumni - C.C.C. says:

Great job and great, on-spot video. Though you focus on grocery stores, we at Home Depot deal with the very same issues. The Inventory Management Software (In our case – "Sidekick" and "Smartlist") is woefully inadequate in reflecting true, actual product "on-hand", as shrewd customers check online before entering our store. They will be "armed" with on-line data showing our particular store has "x" amount of a product in stock and yet, we have to embarrassingly admit we don't have or, can't find it.

This is usually due to points you mention such as theft/shrink, damaged product the system has not processed yet and, very over looked, simply misplaced. (Or, stock that was simply misplaced in overhead "bin's" and was inadvertently knocked behind other product in these overhead "bins/bays" so that the employee cannot physically see where the product listed as "in-stock" actually is.)

IMHO, with experiences at other retailers who use a "back-room" system which, works much better for inventory control, H.D. is a "warehouse store" meaning, there is not any backroom. Any supposed 'stock on hand', per the inventory system, is "suppossed" to be directly in overhead locations directly above the normal stock shelf spot. (The "home".)

You think the grocery Inventory Management Software is bad? Look at the H.D. system – it's pure chaos and, woefully inaccurate. To those who like to shop there, please give the "regular" employee there trying to sincerely assist you, a break. They are honestly trying to help you, in spite of all the aftermentioned.😮

Robert R. says:

These large supermarkets … do you know if they write their own in house inventory management system or is it farmed out?

Robert R. says:

At 11:00; what happens when horrible stores change their planogram which makes it awkward to customers to find stuff and b must throw off the automation system at the warehouse?

peterinbrat says:

I hate when there are 10+ kinds of Triscuits but they're out of the Original. They do this in part to get more shelf space more than to sell the extra varieties. Same goes for many other products like cereal, soda, paper products, and shampoos. It's one reason I like ALDI'S…

NickLyft says:

I will watch this guy teach me about anything. I’m like “Groceries stores let’s get it can’t wait”

I work in a produce department in a massive grocer, and we have to count inventory daily because of how perishable everything is

Chane Smith says:
