How Grocery Stores Trick You into Spending More Money

Grocery stores and supermarkets have razor-thin margins, and so they have every incentive to try to trick you into spending more money. If they could get you to spend just $10 more every time you went to the store, that would be hundreds of millions of dollars more profit every year.

But how do grocery stores get you to spend more? Well, they use everything from visual warfare, to strategic pricing, to where they place items on shelves to subconsciously trick you into spending more money.

But after this video, maybe you’ll be better equipped to fight their dirty tricks.

I'm glad for online grocery pickup. I can get just what I want/need. I ignore the "are you sure you have everything" screen by clicking NO very quickly. Then I go pick the stuff up…no more poor choices, I can take as much time as I need, stop do something else and come back later to finish. And no need to bring the kids who end up begging for stuff they didn't know they wanted until they saw it on the shelf

I went to CVS yesterday and they wanted me to sign up for whatever rewards program. They said you'll get 10 extra bucks to shop at CVS every month. I skimmed through the flyer real quick and noticed it said for only 5 dollars a month. I asked her and she said yes but it pays for itself because we pay you 10 extra bucks a month. IDK something just doesn't seem right about it!!!
