Boston Market, once deemed a worthy competitor in the fast-casual restaurant space, has suffered in recent years, and as delectable as that fall-off-the-bone rotisserie chicken might be, a lot has gone wrong for this once-prominent chain. Here are all the reasons Boston Market is disappearing.

In the early ‘90s, the chain then known as “Boston Chicken” rocketed to fame and fortune with an aggressive expansion strategy that was built on a house of lies. Essentially the company would loan money to potential franchisees, who would then use that money to pay the company a franchise fee, along with other costs, including interest on the loan.

The parent company then reported all this income as pure profit, leaving the franchisees to bear the burden of startup costs. As a result, individual franchises suffered while the home office reported record growth and profit. This allowed them to launch a stock offering in 1996 which saw the price of shares double in a single day, and then double again before the end of the year.

Since the profit model was based on constant expansion, you can guess what happened. The market reached saturation, struggling franchisees couldn’t repay their loans, and suddenly the whole thing collapsed. In 1998, the company declared bankruptcy and was forced to close over 700 locations.

All these comments are correct. Place suxxx now compared to when i would go back in 2005 era. Tried signing up to get the reward of two free deserts, and the website wouldn't allow me to use them and the meals are REALLY overpriced for the size you get. You'd have to buy two meals to be full and that would total around $30 just for something decent. Better off getting some microwave meals and saving like 80%

CanadaQBank says:

I love Boston Market. I eat their meat loaf, with gravy and their sides – creamy spinach, Mac and cheese and of course their corn bread. Wonderful place to eat.

CryptoAgudio says:

Not sure if anyone knows this, but Boston Market wont be around soon. It was sold to a scumbag who will do whatever it takes to profit. Also, he is renaming a few stores and will likely change the name of the company. He also wants to sell fried chicken, which is actually a good idea, but hes still a piece of crap.

RonSafreed says:

In the beginning the food was good but after a while the quality went down & I never went back!

AquaClouder says:

They're too expensive to feed a family and you're still hungry afterward. Personal Meals cost me $11 with a coupon and I was still hungry because I only got 2 slices of turkey and a few spoonfuls of potatoes and a drink.

Rin says:

The cornbread and the meatloaf along with the Mac and cheese were the shit!😍💜 I miss it so much now 🤤
