Thank you for your gentle positivity and great ideas. I love the 1 minute party! Do you mind if I add it to my collection of cheers?

Eric Hogervorst says:

Great ideas! For distance learning, I've emailed gift cards for book stores like Chapters/Indigo. I did a short story writing contest. Students voted on each other's stories. Students could win a gift card by writing the best story (I had a male and female category because elementary girls tend to have stronger language skills and I didn't want only females to win), and students who voted correctly according to the parameters I set out (eg: they gave good reasons for their choices), the voters got their names entered into a raffle for a gift card as well. Class engagement went way up!

Hello Ms. May. I love watching your videos. They are very informative and insightful for me as a Special-ed teacher! I use praise as well! The one second party is a great idea to use for virtual teaching! I love this! I will use this for my diverse learners! Keep sharing your great ideas!

Virtual Lunch has been amazing!!! The students asked for it, and it is so much easier than having a class lunch bunch in school!

Hi MS May I love your door dash suggestion. Since we did not have an end of year classroom party at which time they would received a sand bucket filled with summer goodies like chalk, a drinking cup, snacks, balloons, bubbles, a book, a small toy, etc. we watched a movie together eating our favourite movie food and had a scavenger hunt. I also mailed , some those items in a purple envelope addressed to them also with a certificate for completion of kindergarten. I received so many calls and tm from parents thanking me and telling how excited the kiddos were to receive something in the mail. It was a bit expensive to mail these 27 envelopes but my reward was to know how happy it made them.

Terry Linney says:

I absolutely LOVE your energy and ideas! Thank you! I'm sharing you with my grade level tomorrow!

Kimberly Bjorn says:

My class likes being able to pick the music during a Kahoot! or art activity as a reward. 6th graders are very particular about their music 😜

I would love to know if you are teaching virtually or face-to-face. We begin face-to-face classes Monday. I teach 4th grade and I’m trying to revamp my procedures to account for Covid-19. I would love to hear your thoughts/ideas. (Hint: HELP!)

Porsha Gatson says:

Do you think the one sec party will work for 4th grade?

I introduced 1 second parties in my WebEx Classroom meeting today and it was fantastic! Such a great way for the students to feel motivated to do their best and work hard.

Nicole McIntosh says:

I use an online wheel of names for raffle prizes. Students have to have a certain number of checks to get their name on the raffle wheel.
