Ranch Wife Life says:

Great video! I freeze things and we utilize our leftovers. I keep my bread and tortillas in the fridge so they last longer. I live in a tourist town, and grocery prices are ridiculous! 7.99 for strawberries! Itā€™s just crazy.

kris Sharp says:

Cook more simply. If you buy celery use it to snack on or make a few meals that use it. Or just buy the single rib of celery if you can. I donā€™t use a cookbook. All the recipes designed to push products. Salt and pepper is a seasoning. I may have 5 total in my house. Why buy cream of tartar for one recipe? The price to make a sandwich is not $.50 if you threw away more than half the loaf. Wheat allergy so I canā€™t get through an entire loaf of bread so buy it rarely. My son gets lunch at school. They made it free for all this year a basic breakfast or lunch kids just pay if they want another item added to the basic. Instead of a loaf I get English muffins or tortilla shells. They taste better for longer in fridge and the dates are often longer. Growing up if we had pot roast we would also have baked chicken that week in order to use up the bag of carrots and potatoes.

kris Sharp says:

I like your number 1 suggestion.

Kelley Perine says:

I prefer fresh veggies but I got tired of wasting them if I didnt get to them. I tried frozen veggies but didn't like them as much. I found a middle road and but fresh veg eat what I can and then freeze leftovers.

Jessica Tounkara says:

Beef prices seem to have gone up the most.

Catt Houser says:

It will be helpful to use meat sparingly. Seems like I am hearing and seeing meat getting very expensive and hear it will become less available. I am trying to make meals as simple as possible….few ingredients, spices and sauces.

Sparkle with Jamie says:

Yay Aldi. Love it

Linda Shaw says:

I use Walmart grocery pick up and shop once a month. I use fresh produce up first and then frozen produce. Organizing what I need on my Walmart grocery list allows me to tweak what I need right up to the night before pickup. Iā€™m never in the store at all. Aldi may be cheaper, but there are all of those great special items to tempt me. Besides, I have to go in, select items from the shelves, put them on the checkout counter, pack them in the car and them put them away. Walmart put my items in the at and I just get the receipt on my computer. What I have noticed getting more expensive is cut up products and ground products. Cut chicken thighs are higher than a whole chicken and ground beef, turkey and chicken costs are rising.

Sue de Chaneet says:

Hi Lydia, I started cooking my beans and legumes in the pressure cooker from scratch. They are creamier, nicer in my opinion & so much cheaper. As a vegan I try to eat ingredients rather than any processed products. Like lactose free, vegan labelled products especially fake meat is crazy expensive.

Nisha Ray says:

Youā€™re amazing!!

Debbie Frampton says:

I've never liked leftovers maybe from watching my dad just throw everything together and mix it up I'm 67 this still makes me want to gag. Chili and ham and beans is the only thing I like leftover not even spaghetti.
I prefer to Shop in-store and see what I'm getting but I also like to check my stores markdown meat section markdown produce, deli and bakery and the regular markdown aisle. The most I paid for a pound of 93% lean ground beef is $1.50 if it's marked more than that I don't buy it I also won't buy meat if it's off colored.

Sandra from Scotland says:

Thanks Lydia šŸ‘ "Buy what you know you're going to eat" best tip and reminder. Hope you're all better.

Sandy Seibel Hager says:

I always shred my own cheese. I prefer the taste and find it melts better without the anticaking agent. Also, my dog likes it as a treat and he is allergic to the anti-caking agents. I don't meal prep but I do pre-cook hamburger that I stock up on. I only buy meat when it is on sale and I stock up on it then so that I never pay full price.

Yaya Liams says:

1:35 when u said ā€œthe most expensive food that u can buy is the food u throw awayā€ i shouted YES! A lot of youtubers i watch recommend buying only ingredients that are on sale and i just canā€™t agree with that.

Lizzie McDougall says:

My family also does not like leftovers if they are rewarmed. I have had more success by changing the leftovers into a different meal. Using leftover meat in a stir fry or in soft tacos is always a hit. My main goal though is not to have leftovers, and I meal plan and plan portions in order to avoid leftovers. I am always aiming for zero food waste; this is proving to be very difficult, but I keep trying. Less waste means less cost which is still a positive outcome. I know that I need to do more planning to achieve this goal. Great content as always. Many thanks.

Morgan Bailey says:

If you have a food processor.. shredding cheese in a food processor is life changing

Letty 45 says:

I have wasted so much money on fresh veggies, so when I get fresh veggies now, like mushrooms, onions, green onions, spinach, I chop up everything and freeze it right away and it gives me time to enjoy it before it goes bad. Also, I have stopped going to the store when I need something, I shop once a week, only and I go alone, so I stay on track, only buying what is on my list. Sunday is meal prep day for me, so I know what I am cooking, what I need to buy that week and I inventory the fridge, freezer and pantry before shopping the list. Great video.

Emily Long says:

Shopping my pantry/freezer is a must. Unfortunately our grocery pickup is terrible. We quit after so many issues but I do miss the ability to price compare and know exactly how much Iā€™m spending before I check out. No surprises and no impulse buys. We grow a garden and persevere food. With jars being a hot commodity these days, idk thatā€™s itā€™s cheaper per say anymore but we like knowing our pantry is stocked and since my husband hunts, our freezer is too.

Arielle Calderon says:

watermelons are 8 bucks where I live. They used to be 5ā€¦ as much as I love them I canā€™t bring myself to buy one!

liliam Rodriguez says:

Great video

The Bushman Family says:

I just started freezing my leftovers, because my husband is picky! But I've been eating them later for lunches! I have saved a ton of food, and money. Thanks for the tips! šŸ˜Š

Denise Stathatos says:

stretch that meal!(use leftovers)

Christiana B says:

I like using Ibotta too, as well as the Smithā€™s (Kroger) app for digital coupons. I stock up on frozen produce, bread, etc when itā€™s on sale. I ship at a local surplus/discount store about once a month (only buy the things we eat).
And if we take a trip to Oregon during summer, I like to go to the u-pick berry patches and load up to freeze (and make jam at some point), and get wild caught smoked fish, which is cheaper and better than where I am in Utah. šŸ™‚
Thereā€™s also two local grocery co-ops to me that have great prices on meat, seafood and pantry items from time to time.

BONE CRUSHER says:

You are absolutely fabulous. What stores do you do your grocery shopping at? Do you ever stock up on water? Can you possibly do some in store grocery shopping videos? It would be awesome if you could show how you do your full shopping

Shie H. says:

Handy tip when freezing water. Leave a space of a couple inches and once it is frozen, turn it on its side. If you don't use the freezer every day or if you leave for a few days, check to see if the water melted and refroze (the water will shift). This will tell you if the power went out or if your freezer isn'r working well.
