Why do you think Instacart is a waste of money?
We spend 20% on oroduce that is mostly on sale, 20% on meat that is lower than $3.99 a lb., and the rest on loss leaders and staples. Saves a lot.
There’s no way we could get our grocery budget to $600 for 4 people, sadly. A package of 2.5lb ground beef and a package of 1.5lb chicken was $25 at our local WalMart yesterday. 😭
We have no deep freezer to stock up on meats when on sale. That’s our next larger purchase, though.
Just left Safeway with four bags of loss leaders….after my two dollar reward it was only 15 bucks with tax.
If people still are missing out on that then get onboard people.
What's helped me the most is tracking everything I'm spending, as well as what I buy at the store. I used to use Rocket Money – you can adjust how much you're paying so its super affordable and its easy, it helps you get an idea of what you're spending, it lets you set a budget, it alerts you if a subscription raises its prices, etc. But I personally prefer pen and paper. I just track it all in a composition notebook from walmart that I got for like 50 cents. I write down what I spent at the grocery store and have different bullet points for food versus nonfood and another for prescriptions, all of which comes from the grocery budget. It helps me stay accountable when I buy stuff I don't need on impulse. I look over it all weekly and monthly and cut subscriptions I'm not using. It's helped a lot. I've had a lot of medical expenses this 2024, and the grocery budget is easiest to control and adjust – as well as go overboard on. Thanks for all the tips! I'm always looking for new tips.
For pasta, I started buying the bulk tomatoes and 1-2 onions and 1 head of garlic at Costco, just throw that in the oven w olive oil for 50 minutes at 450 and you can make 4 to 5 pasta jars, it’s the most delicious pasta sauce you could ever have!
Hi! I was wondering if you could do a updated version of eat on a budget college student addition they were so helpful with ideas!:)
In NY, $400/month for 4 ppl.
Thank you so much for this video. Super helpful and well-presented. Your time and effort is most appreciated!
oatmeal causes glicimic spikes, if you want to later have your kid spend money on insulin…
Great tips! Thank you. BTW- those Kroger 3 minute pizzas are my personal fave! What did you think about it?
Oooh and you can freeze eggs! Scramble and add 1/4 tsp salt for every 3 eggs. Freeze in an ice cube tray and they will last for a YEAR!
Flipp app. Shows you ALL the sales in one place in your area so you can compare. ❤ it!
I started meal planning dinners a few years ago and it has absolutely changed the way I shop, not to mention the dreaded "what am I making for dinner" 2 hours before you got to cook or "I forgot to take chicken out of freezer!". I check my planner and see that something needs to come out of freezer for the next day and into the fridge it goes to defrost. I also am a member of Walmart+ and pay a yearly fee. With this fee I get free delivery or pick-up on groceries (needs to be over $35), free shipping on many items plus they have Paramount Plus and a few other perks. Anywayssss…by pantry/fridge/freezer shopping, making out my dinner menu then shopping online I save a fair amount of money because I'm not impulse buying, and yea those cookies looked yum. Three out of 4 of my boys still live at home and they can choose one treat. I have Crohn's disease and sometimes when flares happen I can't leave the house to do the shopping so this service is also very helpful for those with can't leave the house easily or perhaps have work or an appointment. You set up your time for delivery. You can order from the deli as well. Not just for food items either. If you need shampoo, deodorant, dog food, a book, video game, hangers…whatever. Thanks Christine for all the tips! I truly appreciate you sharing your lives with us and all the great content.
Ninja Creami's are amazing!! We use ours almost every day. I stay away from sugar so use a Keto-friendly protein powder, water, a drop of vanilla, and if I feel naughty, half of a 4-oz tub of 2Good vanilla yogurt. With or without the yogurt, the ice cream it makes is delicious, and only about 150 calories for a pint!!! My husband gets the 'good stuff', and wow it's creamy!
